Mastering Live Recording in Meetings

By Mike Chen Nov 10, 2025

Hybrid meetings are the new normal. But capturing clear audio from a room full of people mixed with remote participants can be a nightmare for transcription software. Here's how to get the best results with Resonote.

1. Source Selection Matters

Resonote allows you to capture audio from your microphone, your system audio, or a specific browser tab.

  • In-person meetings: Use a high-quality external microphone placed in the center of the table. Select "Mic" as your source.
  • Remote meetings (Zoom/Teams): Select "System" audio to capture what others are saying clearly, without background noise from your room.

2. The "Background" Tab

One of Resonote's most powerful features is background recording. You can open a meeting in a separate tab, mute it so it doesn't distract you, and let Resonote transcribe it in the background while you work on other things.

3. Speaker Identification

To help the AI distinguish between speakers, try to avoid talking over one another. A brief pause between speakers significantly improves the accuracy of the transcript's speaker labels.
